I think commercials get a bad rap, that there`s no creativity to them, but I haven`t found that to be entirely true. The process of auditioning for them can be tedious but actually doing them can be really fun.

I actually love auditioning because I usually don`t get the part. I`ve tested with Daniel Day-Lewis, De Niro, Pacino, Tom Cruise. So I`ve gotten to that point, and I understand when I don`t get it. There are a lot of very talented people out there.

(1998 quote on auditioning) It`s hard to maintain a sense of dignity in an audition. I have done so many auditions where I`ve put it out there and have been met with that kind of blank stare - "Great! Thanks! OK! Great work! Thanks for coming in!" At the ...

[on auditioning for `Across the Universe`] Before the audition, I`d never sung a bloody note before in my life. I think that`s kind of why they liked me.

See, the first thing about actors is, you`re just trying to get a job; and you audition and audition and you finally get them. And you still consider yourself an auditioning actor. I auditioned for One Fine Day (1996), I wasn`t offered that. So you`re sti...

[on auditioning for Roy in The Perfect Score] What happened was I read the casting sides, and I thought, this guy`s kind of like he`s always doing something - his focus seems to be somewhere else. He`s kind of misunderstood. This guy`s really smart, his f...

On auditioning for "The Simpsons" (1989): I went in, saw Lisa, and didn`t really see anything I could sink my teeth into. But the audition piece for Bart was right there, and I`m like, `Whoa, 10 years old, under-achiever and proud of it? Yeah, man - that`...

On auditioning for the role of Luna - I really wanted to go, because if I didn`t I never would have known, and I`d have been annoyed with myself. They had to pick someone, so why couldn`t I have a go? It`s like in the script, when Harry`s trying to encour...

The odds are so against you... They make like 50 pilots. Of the 50 there are parts for you in 20, and of those 20 there are 1000 guys auditioning for those 20 parts and 10 of them go to names, and of those pilots five go to air and one survives past the f...

I didn`t have to audition. That`s common, but it had never happened to me before. Normally, I hate auditioning. I need to stew and think... let the character develop and grow inside me.
Casey Affleck
As an actor, I`m trying to get as much experience auditioning and acting as I can. It`s an opportunity to learn more and get more experience.
